Recently, Pagoda and Hortgro Pome from South Africa held the "Beautiful Country's Wonderful Fruits" Newton Apple Tasting at the Capeng Restaurant in Yuexiu District, Guangzhou.
As a variety from Western Cape, South Africa, the production area of Newton apple is one of the apple-growing areas closest to the equator in the world. Its unique geographical location and Mediterranean climate provide excellent natural conditions for its growth. To ensure the crispness and sweetness of the apples, Newton apples have a cycle of "growing in summer and harvesting in winter." Sufficient sunshine in summer and temperature differences between day and night can ensure sufficient sugar content in apples, while low-temperature harvesting in winter can preserve apple crispness. Besides, planting and packaging without bagging and waxing also allow Newton apples to accumulate a lot of sugar in full photosynthesis.
Beginning in 2019, Pagoda officially created its signature Newton apple brand. After four years, Newton apples have been well received and loved by many consumers in the market. According to some reports, Pagoda plans to purchase more than 2,500 tons of Newton apples this year, an increase of more than 25% over last year's total.
At the Apple Tasting, Li, from the Pagoda Group, expressed his gratitude and respect to Hortgro and the attendees and conducted an interactive tasting with the offline members to understand their real needs, hoping to let more consumers taste this crisp, sweet and juicy apple.
