At this point, the main supply in the Ukrainian onions market is from imports, particularly from Poland. Since the start of the week, selling prices for imported onions started growing rapidly. Project analysts explain it by the reduction in onion stocks in Poland and a significant increase in prices for logistics services.
According to the project’s daily monitoring, prices from Poland in the Ukrainian market today are around 14-18 UAH/kg ($0.48-0.62/kg). Thus, they have become more expensionionsve by an average of 30% over the week. Meanwhile, the demand for onions in Ukraine remains quite high, and the supply is rapidly declining.
According to key market players, last year’s onion stocks in Ukraine are practically exhausted, and onions of new crops from local farms are not supplied to the market. As we have repeatedly reported, the Kherson region, one of the leaders in growing early vegetables in Ukraine, is currently under occupation.
