The Chinese garlic harvest is about to come to an end. This has been an abundant harvest because the weather conditions were excellent. The size of the garlic is big, and the color and peel are both great. The overall export volume is more or less the same as last year, around 4.5 million tons. The production volume per hectare did not increase much this year.
Compared to last year, the size of the new crop is much better. Around 10% of the harvest falls in the category of 50mm, while 70% falls in the category of 55mm, and the remaining 20% in the category of 60mm.
After the garlic has dried, the size is expected to reach at least 60mm.
The garlic peel looks good too, which is an indication that after packaging, the product quality will remain excellent.
The opening price of garlic was rather low. Labor cost was high, so farmers had to start harvesting by themselves, unlike last year. But in the end, the product quality is high and the loss of harvest small.
The product quality of white garlic has been great from the beginning of the season, and the garlic dried well. The white garlic is well suited for export, and the garlic peel shows the characteristic purple blush very well. Domestic sales are great.
